Unexpected and accidental meetings of passers-by and performers in the space of the city underpass became a "site specific theatre" in TRAFIK'S The Walker. The piece is based on the biography and literary works of Croatian avant-garde poet from Rijeka, Janko Polić Kamov and his obsession with walking and wandering. Three male performers portray Kamov "the swearing poet of the anarchy and absurdity", and the only female performer unites three women in his life: sitter Milka, girlfreind Kitty and anonymous Prostitute. While walking through The Walker an accidental passer-by inevitably becomes a part of the performance and engaged into the role of The Walker himself.
TRAFIK (Transitive-Fiction Theatre) is one of the professional independent movement-theatre companies in Croatia, founded in 1998 in Rijeka. The focus of TRAFIK's attention is the human body researched through different artistic forms theatre, literature, music, visual arts, film, interdisciplinary areas etc. Unlike the conventional theatres that give in to compromise and clichés, TRAFIK decides in favour of simplicity, uncompromising attitude and risk.
