From Oda to Trip, work-in-progress
In spring 2015, Andreja Široki and Iva Korenčić worked in Mediterranean Dance Center developing their new multimedia project entitled Trip, and holding dance workshops for children. At this presentation, the two authors will inform us about their results so far and offer us an exclusive peek into fragments of their new project which will be finished in November.
Ode and Trip are multimedia projects which deal with authentic movement and are marked by the artistic process which includes children and their unquestionable contribution. For that reason, the whole process acquires a different internal structure and dynamics, and the research is approached in a simpler and fresher way. We deal with movement we call „authentic movement“ (not to be confused with the homonymous therapeutic method): for us „authentic movement“ is the movement which is specific and most natural for a particular performer. By recording specific conditions which leave unquestionable trace on the movement, we are mapping social, spatial, emotional and energetic patterns which determine a certain movement as being choreographied. The collision of authentic/natural and artificial/imposed is visible on many levels, through dance expression, specific locations, props, way of recording, editing, and comprehensiveness of the idea through various media. All these elements make the project a separate authentic body whose movement is studied in all its complexity.
Andreja Široki is a choreographer, dancer, holistic dance pedagogue and teacher and practitioner of Theta healing. Iva Korenčić is a multimedia author who uses photography, video and dance as pillars of her work. After A Metre Seventy and Something and the video installation Ode, Trip is their third collaboration.
